30The General Manager N. F. Railway, Shri H. K. Jaggi along with his team of senior officers of Maligaon headquarters carried out his Annual inspection of Tinsukia Division o­n 29th December. The General Manager’s inspection is an annual exercise where detail technical examination of railway assets of different departments is carried out including stations, staff colonies and track assets like bridges, level crossings etc. with the purpose of ensuring that these are maintained in best operational condition. The inspection started at 8:15 a.m. from Mariani station and completed at 19.20 p.m. at New Tinsukia station. Besides meeting with representatives of various public bodies, members of media, the General Manager inaugurated a number of amenities during his inspection, which included:

·Ladies Waiting Hall and 10 KW Solar power plant at Mariani station

·Renovated Waiting Hall at Amguri station

·Upgraded Passenger lounge at Simaluguri station and

·2.5 KW solar power panel at Borhat station

It is noteworthy that during speed trial conducted as part of the inspection, the Inspection special train was able to attain a maximum speed of 113 KMPH, which indicates the excellent condition of track in the Division. While pointing out to various steps the Division could take for further improvement of services, the General Manager also congratulated the Division for achieving some rare feats during the year which includes:

·            Commissioning of siding and station works at Lepetkata station in connection to the 1st           

Petrochem Unit of Northeast region.

  •             Train speed in Loop line increased from 15 Kmph to 30 Kmph completed.
  •             Zero accident at unmanned/manned level crossing gate and No consequential accident.
  •             All Retiring rooms at New Tinsukia, Mariani, Simaluguri, Amguri, Borhat and Duliajan   

stations upgraded and put o­n net for o­nline booking.

  •             WIFI connection provided in New Tinsukia, Dibrugarh & Mariani stations in   


At Tinsukia, the General Manager also met with representative of the Divisional Rail Users Consultative Committee and recognised Unions and gave patient hearing to various demands and suggestions put forward by them. While rewarding railway staff from the Division for their good performance, he enthused them to continue to dedicate themselves to ensure smooth and secure journey of rail users.
