 In order to facilitate faster conversion of the existing meter gauge track to broad gauge track, “Mega Block” will be taken up in the Badarpur – Kumarghat – Agartala section (excluding Badarpur railway station) w.e.f. 1st October, 2015. Due to the “Mega Block” running of both passenger and goods trains over that section will be stopped w.e.f. 20-09-2015. So, train number 05263 Agartala - Karimganj passenger special and 05264 Karimganj - Agartala passenger special will stop running w.e.f. 20th September, 2015. The “Mega Block” has been granted for six months (till 31st March, 2016) to complete the entire conversion work of the Badarpur – Kumarghat – Agartala section. Preliminary work for undertaking the conversion work has been done already in consultation with all stakeholders. After the Mega Block, Agartala, the capital city of Tripura will be connected by broad gauge track to the rest of the country.
