Maligaon, 16thSeptember, 2014: Hon’ble Minister for Railways Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda visited the N.F.Railway Headquarters at Maligaon today and reviewed the performance of Northeast Frontier Railway with the General Managers of Northeast Frontier Railway and Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction).


            The Minister in his address to the officers emphasized that Cleanliness, Passenger Amenities and Catering were his main focus areas, besides ensuring Safety, Security and Punctuality for the railway passengers. He also stated that the Northeast Frontier Railway, despite facing several challenges, has been speeding up and going ahead which is quite appreciable.


            While making the presentation o­n the performance of his Railway, Shri R.S. Virdi, the General Manager N. F. Railway highlighted the main achievements during the year so far which are :-


  • The earnings have increased by 35% as compared to last year.
  • The Railway has up graded the sectional speed up to Guwahati from 100 kmph to 110 kmph.
  • New mechanised Laundry for washing of linens for AC coaches has been recently set up at NJP.
  • For ensuring better security at the stations Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTVs) have been installed in 5 stations.
  • Improved Safety record.
  • Improved Cleanliness at stations.


General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction), Shri R. K. Singh gave a detailed presentation o­n the progress of various projects of N.F. Railway to the Minister. He also explained that many of the projects are being executed under very difficult conditions.


      Earlier in the morning the Minister visited the Guwahati Railway Station and inspected the various Passenger Amenities at the station. He also interacted with a cross section of the passengers for getting their feedback which he found to be satisfactory.
