Maligaon, 29th April 2014: The General Manager, N. F. Railway (Construction), Shri R. K. Singh inaugurated the All-India Inter-Railway Dance Competition-2013, by lighting the inaugural lamp at Rang Bhawan in Maligaon today. Altogether 19 teams comprising 300 contestants including 17 children from across the country representing different Zonal Railways and Production Units are taking part in the two-day competition hosted by N. F. Railway for the first time. The largest contingent of 38 contestants was from the Western Railway. The Inter-Divisional & Inter-Railway competitions for Music, Dance and Drama were started way back in 1976 and have been annual events since then to showcase the talent of the wards of railway employees (excluding professionals).

Inaugurating the competition, the General Manager said, Railways place special emphasis o­n welfare of its employees including creation of an environment conducive for pursuing creative expressions which, in turn, help them to contribute their best for the organization. In his welcome address, the Chief Personnel Officer of N. F. Railway, Shri Chandrajit Saikia said that the occasion was indeed a proud o­ne for N. F. Railway as the prestigious competition was hosted by this Railway for the first time. The first day’s events started off with Solo Dance competition and the Group Dance Competition is slotted for 30th April 2014. Eminent dancers, Dolly Rani Talukdar, Dipti Devi and Dr. Meerananda Borthakur would judge the competition which would conclude tomorrow.
