FIRST EVER CONTAINER RAKE STARTED FROM TINSUKIA

FIRST EVER CONTAINER RAKE STARTED FROM TINSUKIA

Maligaon, 6TH March 2014:  History was made at Tinsukia with the loading of the first ever container rake from this region. At about 10:10 hours on date, a Container rake consisting of 16 loaded flats (32 containers) was dispatched from the newly developed Container Rail Terminal at New Tinsukia. The Containers, which had brought Pulses in the inward direction, were loaded with Paraffin Wax and Cosmetic Ingredients to be sent to Kolkata.

Opening of Container traffic will revolutionise the logistics in this region and would offer the local manufacturers and producers a fast, secure and economic means of dispatching their products to any corner of the country. It is expected that the loading of Container Rakes from Tinsukia would be a regular feature and would pick up a sizeable Tea traffic as well.

In this connection, it is mentioned that there are plans to set up another Container Terminal at Dibrugarh also.
