Handloom & Textile Centres opened at Guwahati and Naharlagun stations; Network Control & Data Analytics Centre inaugurated at NFR HQ

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Hon’ble Minister of State of Railways & Textiles Smt. Darshana Jardosh inaugurated a Handloom & Textile Centre (an Outlet of the Handloom & Textile Department, Govt. of Assam) at the Guwahati Railway Station o­n 19th December, 2021.Shri Pema Khandu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh also inaugurated a Handloom & Textile Centre at Naharlagun Railway Station o­n same day.These inaugurations were held after flagging off of two Vistadome services between Guwahati – Naharlagun and Naharlagun – Tinsukia.

In a bid to boost local economy and to provide opportunities for local artisans, N. F. Railway has opened these centres for sale of handloom & textile products at railway stations. These initiatives will help the textile and handloom artisans to sell their products and to attain self sufficiency. Travellers can enjoy the unique experience by picking up the heritage handloom products of their choice. With a huge number of footfalls at railway stations, it will help spreading local products, cultural heritage throughout the globe. This is another effort by NFR to boost local economy. 

Later o­n, at N. F. Railway Headquarters, Maligaon, Smt. Darshana Jardosh, Hon’ble MoSR along with Smt. Queen Oja, Hon’ble MP (Lok Sabha) inaugurated a Network Control & Data Analytics Centre. General Manager of N. F. Railway Shri Anshul Gupta was also present. NCDAC (Network Control & Data Analytics Centre) is being developed at N. F. Railway Headquarters, Maligaon to promote the use of technical advancement in IT related field. NCDAC will be developed as common hub of IT related solution for all departments of Railway. Measures are being taken to make use of Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, Networking etc. in Railway related data analysis.

The field equipments of the railway are widely spread along with the track over thousands of kilometre; steps are being taken to increase the remote monitoring of such assets. With such facilities / assistance Railway personnel will be able to get the performance of the field asset improved.
