Safety of train running being ensured

During this nationwide lockdown period, Indian Railways is working 24 x 7 to ensure that there is no scarcity of essential items in every corner of our country. However, to reduce the possibility of spreading the Corona virus amongst officials, only skeletal staffs from the essential categories that are directly connected with train operations are on their job. This is a challenging situation for all of us as hundreds of freight and parcel loaded trains are in operation within our system.

In this scenario the huge task of ensuring safe running of trains has become more imperative, as freight trains have to move day and night without any interruption. And for this monitoring the safety of on-duty officials are also very crucial apart from maintenance of vital assets. Officials from departments like Carriage & Wagon, Train Crew, Track maintenance, Signal & Telecom, Traffic cum Commercial are on their job without fail. For maintaining communication various department wise and division wise communication groups have been made for providing real time information about train operation by ensuring safety. As a result any issue pertaining to safety in any location which may arise due to shortage of on-duty officials are being promptly addressed.

As a result, NFR has been able to ensure:

1.100% safe movement of freight trains in all divisions.

2.Increase in awareness of staff for personal safety and to reduce human failure causing accidents.

3.Sanitization of Train engine, guard cabins and crew rest room day and night.

4.Availability of personal protection kit for frontline staff and maintaining Social Distance among them.

5.Issue of road travel pass from district administration for staff involved in performing essential duty during lock down period.

6.Fitness check of all on-duty officials along with their families frequently.

7.Foot operated touch less hand washing arrangement at the entrance of office, train crew rest room, Coaching and Wagon Depot, Work shop etc for avoiding risk of contamination.

8.Regular interaction with field staff on safety related subjects to boost their morale.
