RPF NFR arrests 23 criminals on charges of theft during 2019

Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of N.F. Railway have successfully arrested 23 criminals o­n charges of theft of passenger belongings during the period from January to March this year. The arrested criminals also include druggists who used to drug o­n train passenger o­n various pretext and loot their belongings.

In o­ne such incident o­n 30.03.2019, at about 10 AM, a joint team of Crime Prevention & Detection Squad (CPDS) and Crime Investigation Branch (CIB) from RPF / Katihar comprising Inspector Anoop Tiwari, Head Constable R.K. Jaiswal, Constable Rakesh Kr. Singh Head Constable B. K. Dubey & Constable Ramashish Jha conducted a special drive at Katihar Railway station with active support of GRP / Katihar. During the special drive the team arrested 3(three) persons namely (i) Kartik Mahto, aged about 35 yrs, s/o Amir Mahto, vill- Begusarai, Bishunpur, PS- Town Thana, Dist- Begusarai (Bihar), (ii) Sovind Kumar, aged about 25 yrs, s/o Nandu Sah, vill- Ulav, PS: Singhaul, Dist- Begusarai (Bihar) and (iii) Aman Kumar, aged about 18 yrs, s/o Arun Ram, vill- Ulav, PS: Singhaul, Dist. Begusarai (Bihar). Gold and silver ornaments worth Rs. 1, 50,000/- , 03 mobile phones, 06 trolley bags, 05 Backpacks, Rs. 80,000 in cash and Aadhar Cards which were stolen from railway passengers were recovered from the arrested person.

All the arrested persons with seized materials were later handed over to OC/GRP/Katihar who registered a case vide No.29/2019 dated 30.03.2019 u/s 379/411/414/34 IPC and 137/147 Railway Act.

It may be mentioned here that during the year 2018, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of N.F. Railway had successfully arrested 118 criminals o­n charges of drugging and theft of passenger belongings throughout N.F. Railway.
