The Indian Tricolour was hoisted on a 100-feet high flagpole in the circulating area of New Jalpaiguri Station today(03.01.2019) morning. This is the first of such monumental flags to be installed in all A-1 category stations of N. F. Railway. In a befitting gesture of camaraderie and honour, Smt. Menaka Roy, widow of a former railwayman Govinda Roy, was invited to hoist the flag for the first time. Late Roy was a Blacksmith under Senior Section Engineer (Permanent Way) at New Jalapiguri who lost his life while performing his duties on 31 December 2014. It may be mentioned here that Union Minister of Railways, Shri Piyush Goyal had recently instructed all zonal railways to install High-mast National Flag in all A-1 category stations in the country.
