Special Cleanliness drive held at N.F.Railway HQ

As a mark of respect to the Father of our Nation Mahatma Gandhi o­n the occasion of his 148th birth anniversary as well as o­n the conclusion of the fortnight long “Swachchta Hi Seva” campaign a massive cleanliness drive was undertaken today over all the five Divisions of N.F.Railway i.e. Katihar, Alipurduar, Rangia, Lumding & Tinsukia. This massive drive undertaken today is part of the countrywide “Swachh Bharat” campaign being organised through out Indian Railways involving the officers and employees.

While offering Shramdan by leading from the front, Shri Chahatey Ram, General Manager, N.F.Railway, urged the Railway officers and employees to make endeavour towards making their office cleanest amongst any of the office premises of Guwahati. He further requested that every staff and officers should take this campaign as a challenge and tries his/her best to make this campaign a successful campaign ever. He reminded that it is the collective responsibility of everyone to keep our Nation clean.

This “Swachh Bharat” mission campaign was launched three years ago to create a Clean India by the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. 

The “Swachh Bharat” campaign within the Railway premises covers all the stations, office campus, Railway colonies so as to present these areas as ideal areas before the country as well as in the world. The mission has targeted aims like eliminating the open defecation, converting insanitary toilets into pour flush toilets, eradicating manual scavenging, and liquid wastes, bringing behavioural changes to people and motivate health practices, spreading cleanliness awareness among rail users, strengthening the cleanliness systems in the station, office campus and railway colony areas as well as creating user friendly environment.
