Indian Railways redefined train journey in the country when it introduced Vistadome coaches a few years back. Vistadome coaches offer a 360- degree view of the journey as the coaches comes complete with huge glass windows & roofs for the passengers to enjoy the breath-taking panoramic views of pristine nature during the time of journey giving them an immersive travel experience. In addition, these vistadome coaches also have state-of-the-art passenger amenities.
NFR also did not lag behind. The very first vistadome services in NFR were introduced in 02 (Two) sections on 28th August, 2021, viz., Guwahati- New Haflong and New Jalpaiguri- Alipurduar. These two services were introduced in these routes to promote tourism and cultural heritage of the Northeast and the North Bengal region. The introduction of such world class services attracted tourists from both domestic & international region. The impeccable natural beauty of both the regions can be promoted giving the hidden potential tourism industry a boom.
Introduction of Vistadome highly benefitted the local industries because due to the large tourist foot-fall has created new work opportunities, revenue earnings and also helped in promoting indigenous products in world level. In Dima-Hasao, the introduction of the Guwahati–Haflong Vistadome service gave a boost to the local tourism industry which was in a decline after covid restrictions. A vast segment of people belonging to various sectors got benefitted economically with more and more tourists coming into the region. Keeping in view, the incomparable benefits, more Vistadome coaches were introduced by N. F. Railway between Agartala- Jiribam, Guwahati- Naharlagun & recently between New Jalpaiguri- Howrah to meet the increasing demands as well as introducing the unexplored tourism areas of the region. one more train, namely Kulik Express, has also been provided by a Vistadome Coach recently.
Tourism industry not only generates revenue and new work opportunities but also boosts the over-all development of the region. The economic standards of the locals is highly benefitted and Vistadome coaches acts as a boon to promote and attract more tourism as both Northeastern & North-Bengal region have such unseen places that a tourist can only dream about and railways being the most connected mode of transportation of the nation helping explore the unseen beauties.
