N. F. Railway Celebrates 74th Republic Day

Maligaon, 27th January, 2023:

 Northeast Frontier Railway celebrated the 74thRepublic Day in a befitting manner. The central program was held at the NFRSA complex at Maligaon, where Shri Anshul Gupta, General Manager of N. F. Railway unfurled the National Flag in presence of a gathering of railway officials and their family members. He also inspected march-past by contingents of RPF, Territorial Army, Civil Defence, and Bharat Scouts & Guides. The Republic Day was also celebrated in all the five Divisions of N. F. Railway viz. Tinsukia, Lumding, Rangiya, Alipurduar and Katihar, where the Divisional Railway Managers unfurled the National Flag in presence of Divisional railway officials. The General Manager while addressing the gathering congratulated all officers and staff who discharged their duties in the best possible way despite many adverse situations towards achieving the goals for overall development of railway. He also briefed about the performance of N. F. Railway achieved in the last few months.

 On the occasion the General Manager laid foundation stone of a new 25 Bedded RPF Ladies Barrack at RPF Barrack, Maligaon. He also inaugurated new facilities at the Central Hospital, Maligaon for the benefit of the patients.

The General Manager mentioned about improving intrastate rail connectivity by introduction of Vistadome train services connecting three states Assam, Tripura and Manipur which was inaugurated by Hon’ble President of India o­n 13th October, 2022. Introduction of direct train services connecting Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland via Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland via Assam was also mentioned by the General Manager. He also mentioned about the introduction of Vande Bharat Express which was flagged off by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India o­n 30th December, 2022 running between Howrah to New Jalpaiguri. He also stated that total earnings of N. F. Railway during the period from April to December, 2022 was Rs 5500 crores which is 25% higher than the corresponding period of last year. He further mentioned that loading of goods increased by 21% and nearly 1800 crores were generated as passenger revenue during the period from April to December, 2022.

The General Manager further added that, Rozgar Mela which was held at NFR headquarters for the first time was a grand success. Total 698 new recruits were appointed through RRB, RRC and CGA by NFR during Rozgar Mela held in the month of October, November/2022 and January/2023.

For improvement of safety & operational efficiency, 21 stations have been provided with the electronic interlocking system, 16 manned level crossing gates were eliminated and 7 Road Over Bridges constructed during last nine months. 334.05 kms of Rail Renewal and 126.43 kms of Sleeper Renewal were also completed during the period. General Manager also mentioned about the uses of AI based Elephant Protection System that has been launched first time in the world to prevent train elephant collision.

In his speech the General Manager specially mentioned about the sports persons of NFR in bringing laurels at the National/International level continuously. He mentioned about the achievement of N.F. Railway sportsperson Miss Bhagyabati Kachari, who represented Indian Boxing team and won medals. He also mentioned about the achievements of Cyclist, Boxers and Weightlifters of N.F. Railway who won medals at various National & Inter Railway tournaments.

Members of the N.F. Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation distributed essential items amongst admitted patients at the Central Hospital located at Maligaon.
