Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in collaboration with Northeast Frontier Railway launched the “Achhi Aadat (Good Habit) Campaign” to raise awareness among school students about the importance of good hygiene practices. The campaign which was started in NFR from 21stof February, 2022 continued till 25th February, 2022. The objective of the campaign was to introduce a simple and practical approach to hygiene and sanitation related issues by promoting hand washing, nail cleaning and other hygiene practices such as wearing mask in a correct way amongst school children.
“Achhi Aadat (Good Habit) Campaign” was conducted in 15 Railway Schools in N. F. Railway including 10 Railway Schools of Assam (Guwahati - 05, Lumding – 01, Badarpur – 01, Mariani – 01, New Tinsukia – 01, Dibrugah – 01). Similar campaign was also conducted at few other Railway Schools located at Dimapur, Alipurduar, Siliguri, New Jalpaiguri and Barsoi. Masks were distributed among the school children free of cost. All necessary supports were provided by railway authorities in this regard.
The moderators from the team JICA explained to participant students about Achhi Aadat (good habits), the benefits of growing habits, hand washing, nail hygiene, saving water, mask wearing, keeping physical distance. In the 45 minutes to 1 hour Awareness Session, animation film on correct washing was also shown. There was also an interactive session. Students were delighted to take part in such initiative.
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has launched the “Achhi Aadat (Good Habit) Campaign” in India earlier this year, with the aim to raise awareness among 10 crore people specially children in India, about the importance of hygiene practices for preventing the spread of Covid -19 and other infectious diseases.
