As part of the Business Development Unit (BDU) initiatives, N. F. Railway operated its first leased Parcel Cargo Express Train (PCET) from Azara (Guwahati) in Assam to Vasco - da- Gama in Goa on 29thJanuary, 2022. The train commenced its maiden journey from Azara today carrying mosquito repellents (All Out), varieties of tea, broom etc.
In a first, AVG Logistics operated a leased Parcel Cargo Express Train (PCET) for Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) covering a distance of 3358 kms (one way) between Azara (Guwahati) in Assam and Vasco in Goa via Siliguri, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Hubli with loading/unloading facilities. The train was loaded with food products, ready-made garments, varieties of tea, bamboo products and other handicrafts, spices, edible oil, mosquito repellents, etc. The total transit time was 87 hours.
The train will operate on round trip basis. The train departs from Azara on every Wednesday at 6 pm and reaches Vasco-da-Gama at 8:30 am on Sunday. The train consists of 15 van parcels of 24 tonne capacity each and 1 brake van for the first six months and a total of 20 parcel vans thereafter up to next 6 years.
This new route will not only strengthen the connectivity between the North Eastern States with the South and West, but also act as a catalyst for business growth. It will act as an efficient and reliable time bound solution to the supply chain needs of Eastern India. It will bring a boom to the industrial and agricultural sector across the eastern region.
