NFR has been continuously providing more and more facilities to railway passengers and customers at various stations and other points of customer interaction. Most of these initiatives are being launched as part of the “Digital Initiatives”. As a result passengers are getting services like Free WiFi, Train Indication Boards, Coach Indication Boards, Digital Clocks, Integrated Passenger Information System, PC based Public Address System, Digital Museum etc at various stations.
NFR provided Free WiFi facilities at 4 more stations namely Silghat Town under Lumding Division, Dhubri under Alipurduar Division and Sukna & Haldibari under Katihar Division during last month. With these total 374 stations under NFR is having a high speed Free WiFi facility. Passengers using these stations can avail the benefit of internet and other services by using the free facilities.
Similarly amenities like Train Indication Boards guide passengers with information like arrival / departure time of various trains with platforms numbers.The Coach Indication Boards predicts and display position of various coaches of a train in platforms. So passengers having their tickets with coach number can position themselves at the exact location to board the arriving train to avoid rush. During the month of December NFR has provided Train Indication Boards at 5 stations and Coach Indication Boards at 3 stations. With this Train Indication Boards and Coach Indication Boards have been provided at 33 stations at 30 stations respectively in NFR. With provision if new Integrated Passenger Information System in one more station during last month, total in 18 stations of NFR are having such facilities now. With addition of Public Address System at 10 more stations and Digital Clocks at 4 new stations during last month, total 349 and 228 stations of NFR are having such facilities till last month.
