Shri Rajen Gohain & Shri Biplab Kumar Deb flag off Second Service of 12504/12503 Agartala – Bangalore Cantt. Humsafar Express

The Union Minister of State of Railways, Shri Rajen Gohain and Chief Minister of Tripura Shri Biplab Kumar Deb jointly flagged off the inaugural second service of 12503/12504 Agartala – Bangalore Cantonment Humsafar Express at ceremonial function held at Agartala railway station today. Minister of Transport, Govt of Tripura Shri Pranajit Singha Roy, Minister of Tribal Welfare & Forest, Govt of Tripura Shri Mevar Kumar Jamatia, Member of Tripura Legislative Assembly Shri Ram Prasad Paul, Member of Tripura Legislative Assembly Shri Surajit Dutta, General Manager, N. F. Railway Shri Sanjive Roy, Divisional Railway Manager of Lumding Division Shri Ashish Sharma, senior railway officials and other state government officials were present at the ceremony besides hundreds of eager audience.

Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Union Railway Minister of State of Railways, Shri Rajen Gohain said that he had promised in January this year that frequency of the Agartala – Bangalore Cantonment Humsafar Express would be increased and it gave him immense happiness to fulfil the promise today. He said, railway infrastructure development in North-eastern region has got an impetuous in the last four years under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said there were 43 o­ngoing railway projects in North-eastern region 25 of which were for construction of new broad gauge lines and all of them are progressing in full steam. When these projects are completed 5158 km of new broad gauge railway lines will be added in the Northeast, he said and added that problems like shortage of funds have been taken care of and there are a lot of new plans for the region.

Shri Gohain also said that connectivity of the region is priority of the present government and announced that a train connecting Agartala with Deoghar in Jharkhand would be introduced soon. Speaking at the function, the Chief Minister of Tripura Shri Biplab Kumar Deb lauded the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his vision of “Transforming Northeast with Transportation” said thanked Minister of State of Railways for the announcement of a new train. He requested to look into possibility of increasing frequency of the Agartala – Anand Vihar (New Delhi) Rajdhani Express.

The General Manager, N. F. Railway, Shri Sanjive Roy in his welcome address reiterated Indian Railway’s commitment for development of the northeastern region and for providing better services. He said, the second service of the Humsafar Express flagged off by the Hon’ble Minister will now increase the frequency of the train from weekly to bi-weekly. Thetrain covers 3542 Kms. Distance in 64 hours and having 28 stoppage en-route.

Regular service of the Humsafar Express inaugurated today will commence from Agartala from 26-05-2018 and form Bangalore Cantt. the regular service will commence from 29-05-2018. It will leave Agartala at 05.00 AM o­n every Tuesday and Saturday to arrive at Bangalore Cantonment o­n every Thursday and Monday at 09.15 PM. In the return direction the train will leave Bangalore Cantonment o­n every Tuesday and Friday at 10.15 AM to arrive at Agartala at 03.45 hrs o­n every Friday and Monday.
