The Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on 26thFebruary, 2024, laid the foundation stone and inaugurated and dedicated around 2000 railway infrastructure projects to the nation that worth more than Rs. 41,000 crores, via video conferencing. Lakhs of people from around 500 railway stations and 1500 other venues connected with the “Viksit Bharat Viksit Railways” event, witnessing a major changeover in the nation’s most affordable and widely used mode of transportation i.e. “Railways”. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, foundation stone has been laid at 553 railway stations that are to be revamped with modern facilities similar to those in airports as to make it available for both poor and middle class passengers at the railway stations. As Railway is becoming a mainstay for ease of travel for the citizens, more than 1500 Road Over Bridges and Underpass projects were laid to reduce congestion, enhance safety & connectivity, improve capacity, and efficiency of rail travel. Gomti Nagar railway station project in Uttar Pradesh is being inaugurated by our Hon’ble Prime Minister, symbolizing the unprecedented speed and work culture the New Age India has adopted that too in a World class standard. The Prime Minister expressed happiness that the upcoming Amrit Bharat Stations will be symbols of both Vikas and Virasat.Creation of a Viksit Bharat in the last 10 years is especially apparent in railways. Thus, with 2000 projects being launched in one go, India is set to witness a mega transformation of its railway infrastructure.
At N.F. Railway, out of 553 railway stations, Hon’ble Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for redevelopment of 23 railway stations with an approximate cost of Rs. 685.32 crores to emphasize the importance of providing world class amenities at railway stations for passengers of the region. Out of these 23 stations, 11 stations are from Assam namely Haibargaon, Gohpur, Harmuti, Majbat, Pathsala, Tangla, Udalguri, Viswanath Chariali, Murkongselek, North Lakhimpur & Silapathar, 03 are from Bihar namely Arariya Court, Labha, Salmari, 06 are from West Bengal namely Balurghat, Bhaluka Road, Harischandrapur, Kumedpur Jn., Malda Court & Siliguri Jn and 03 stations from the state of Mizoram, Sikkim & Tripura states namely Sairang, Rangpo & Agartala respectively. Hon’ble PM also laid foundation stone for 05 Underpasses, 02 Road Over Bridges & dedicated one Underpass under N.F. Railway with an approximate cost of Rs. 111.49 crores.Underpasses will be constructed at different locations namely Bargaon Road, Tahura, Nonke Bongali & two at Dhemaji Bari. Further, 02 Road Over Bridges will be constructed in the state of Bihar at Belauri & Daichan gate. Further, more than 1000 school students were awarded at various places over N.F. Railway for participating in various events under the theme “Developed Nation & Developed Railway of 2047.
Indian Railways is not just a mode of transportation for passenger but is also the biggest freight carrier for both agricultural and industrial progress of the nation. Doubling the speed of laying new lines and taking rail connectivity to new areas like the Northeast front of India and working on 2,500 KM dedicated freight corridors will be an added boost towards creating employment and economic connectivity within the nation. Every paisa spent on infrastructure creates new sources of income and new employment.
