N. F. Railway has organised two free Health Check-up Camps in association with ASG Eye Hospitals, Guwahati. one such camp was organised at Bhairabi railway station on 14thMarch and another camp was organised at Sairang on 15th March, 2022. Both these camps were organised in the state of Mizoram. This far flung state has railway connectivity only up to Bhairabi and work is going on for connecting Sairang in the Railway map. As a social responsibility, Railways has tried to address the health care requirement of the underprivileged locals. These camps were a boon for the local population at both these places. At the medical camps, the locals were provided with free health check up. They were advised and were counselled about the findings. Such free health check-up camp aims to identify and treat people from the underprivileged section for whom even basic healthcare is unattainable.
A total of 262 local citizens attended the camps of which 183 were at Bhairabi and 79 were at Sairang. Among the beneficiaries of the camps, 1 patient with liver cirrhosis, 5 patients with diabetes mellitus, 62 patients with refractive error, 19 patients with cataract, 1 patient with corneal opacity and 1 with eye infection were identified. Besides, 4 patients at Bhairabi were identified for need of urgent cataract surgery. N. F. Railways has shared their details with the Health Directorate of Mizoram for arranging the necessary surgery.
Northeast Frontier Railway has been organising series of such Free Health Check-up Camps all over its jurisdiction as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. The camps are open to public. Organising such camps will specially provide the new hope for the underprivileged section of the society.
