NFR organized seminar on Freight and Parcel Business With Traders and Stakeholders of Mizoram

The Northeast Frontier Railway recently conducted a seminar o­n Freight and Parcel Business with traders and stakeholder departments of Mizoram Government. The seminar was organised at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Kolasib district in Mizoram o­n 17thFebruary, 2022. Around 16 participants including ADC of Kolasib district Mr. Loma, officials from department of Horticulture, Transport, Agriculture, Forest, Civil supplies and traders were present. The aim of the seminar was to reach out to traders of Mizoram so that they could get connected to Railways in importing and exporting goods from Bhairabi Railway Station.

The first such seminar with district administrations o­n freight and parcel business, under the guidance of Shri Anshul Gupta, the General Manager of N. F. Railway was organised in the state of Mizoram. A team of Railway officials led by Area Railway Manager of Badarpur Shri Deepak Kumar Murmu gave a presentation about the benefits of various Freight & Parcel schemes offered to customers by Railways. Participants were explained about Kisan Rail services and the overall benefit of transportation of commodities through railways. A live demonstration of registration process and booking of consignment using FOIS website was also given to the participants. All queries were answered by the NFR officials during discussion. The participants expressed their interest in booking of livestock as inward traffic and loading of dragon fruits and other similar items during season from Bhairabi station.

Various concession & discount o­n freight business, different parcel schemes with salient features and subsidy for transportation of fruits and vegetables through Kisan Rail are provided by Railways. Railways, being a cheaper mode of transport than the road ways, is also suitable for transportation of larger capacity with eco-friendly way. Such services will give a boost to local economy of the region and will increase freight transportation volume of railways.
