NFR initiatives towards ‘Zero Scrap Mission’ Registers highest ever scrap sale in last 10 years

In line with the “Zero Scrap Mission” of Indian Railways, Northeast Frontier Railway is committed to make all the establishments and units under its jurisdiction free from scrap materials. Under this mission, continuous monitoring is ensured to keep the stations, depots, sheds, workshops and sections scrap free. Shri Anshul Gupta, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway emphasizes during inspections and meetings on “Zero Scrap Mission” and motivates all to create new benchmarks.

Northeast Frontier Railway has sold scrap worth Rs. 114 crores till 31st January, 2022. The scrap materials include scrap rails, P-Way materials, condemned coaches, wagons and locomotives etc. This is 104.65% higher as against the total sale of Rs 55.71 crores during corresponding period in last year. This is the highest sale of scrap materials in last 10 years by Northeast frontier Railway.

Northeast Frontier Railway has generated 25640 MTs of scrap rails, P-Way materials and depot scrap till 31st January, 2022. Further condemned rolling stock i.e., 54 wagons, 33 coaches and 27 diesel locomotives were sold during the year.

The ‘Zero Scrap Mission’ drive has not only generated revenue for Indian Railways but also created the space for accumulating other material including scrap and improved the aesthetics of stations, workplaces & surrounding areas.
