Four railway staff awarded for exceptional devotion towards duty

Four railway staff namely Shri Pradip Kumar Mohali, Sr. Section Engineer/P-Way/Azamnagar, Shri Arindam Paul, Loco Pilot/Goods/Alipurduar Jn, Shri Tarun Kumar Biswas, Sr. Asst. Loco Pilot /Goods/Alipurduar Jn and Shri Nikunja Kumar Boro, Track Maintainer-Grade-IV/Rangiya, were awarded by Shri Sanjive Roy, General Manager, N.F.Railway for showing exceptional devotion towards duty.

On 11.02.18, Shri Pradip Kumar Mohali, Sr. Section Engineer/P-Way/Azamnagar under Katihar Division, while performing trolley inspection between Azamnagar – Kumedpur station noticed some irregularities in piers of Br. No – MK-8 at KM 166/4-5 between Khurial and Kumedpur station in down line. After inspection of the bridge he found reinforcement between pile and pile cap was naked. He immediately informed all concerned and imposed a speed restriction of 20 kmph for train running. Thus a possible mishap was averted.

On 26.02.2018, Shri Arindam Paul, Loco Pilot and Shri Tarun Kumar Biswas, Sr. Asst. Loco Pilot while working 15767 up Intercity Express between Chalsa and Nagrakata noticed o­ne baby elephant with mother standing o­n track at km 67 / 4. It was about 19-10 hrs. They immediately stopped the train by applying emergency brake. Again o­n same day they noticed two wild elephants crossing railway track at km 163 / 4-5 between Raja Bhatkhowa and Alipurduar Jn station. Again they stopped the train by applying emergency brakes. Thus possible mishaps were averted due to their alertness.

On 18.02.2018, Shri Nikunja Kumar Boro, Track Maintainer while performing duty as key man at gang no – 62 detected a rail fracture at km 390 / 2-3 between Changsari and Agthori section. He immediately controlled approaching train no – 55818 dn passenger train by informing all concerned. Thus a possible mishap was averted.

In recognition of their meritorious service for preventing mishaps/accident all of them were awarded with a cash award of Rs.2, 500/- (Rupees Two thousand five hundred o­nly) each alongwith a certificate by General Manager, N.F. Railway.
