NFR thrust on Green initiative

Northeast Frontier Railway has targeted to make all railway stations 100% LED lit by 31stMarch, 2018. It’s a huge initiative to provide energy efficient lighting which will eventually greatly help in conservation of environment. This will also lead to an annual saving of Rs. 67 lakhs per year in the energy bill of the railway. At present N.F.Railway has 534 stations, out of which 101 stations have already been made 100% LED lit. Work is on to make rest of the stations fully LED lit within the targeted period. Out of the 101 stations where LED lighting works have been completed; 35 are in Katihar Division, 14 are in Alipurduar Division, 30 are in Rangiya Division,16 are in Lumding Division and 6 are in Tinsukia Division.

In another such initiative towards harvesting clean and green energy, N.F.Railway has already commissioned many Roof – Top Solar Power Plants over railway establishment. These plants are producing around 980 KW of power for official use. More such solar power plants are in the pipeline throughout N.F.Railway.
